Anchorage is the largest city in Alaska. The population of Anchorage is 390,826. The origin of Anchorage’s name is debated, but one likely explanation comes from the nearby Inuit word “ancho.” Anchorage has a cold climate and its winters are long and snowy. The town was originally named after an English ship that wrecked off the coast in 1786.

There are a few different ways to get to Anchorage.

1. Car Ferry

2. Alaska Marine Highway

3. Commercial Airline

4. Helicopter Charter

5. Cruise Ship

Ferry for ANCHORAGE

The ferry is the most popular way of getting to Anchorage. It provides a scenic view of the city and its surroundings as it sails through the inlets. Ferries provide a way of connecting Anchorage, Alaska to the outside world via Prince William Sound. Ferries carry both freight and passengers. A ferry is a form of transportation that carries people, animals, or property over water. Ferries may be used for inland waterways and other purposes besides carrying people across water.

The trip can take up to 5 hours each way depending on weather conditions and you will have to pay for your fare before you board.

Fares are not cheap, so it is worth looking into what routes are available, what times the ferries depart and depart back if the rates differ for buying single one-way or round-trip tickets as well as what discounts are available for student’s ID cards and seniors aged 65+
